  • Specimen not found in August 1977. One set of horns found -- no number, no skull -- should be either 21573 or 24887 according to label under horns. unnumbered Set of horns found again in 2019, during 5th floor inventory. All Capra falconeri skulls (male or unrecorded sex) were found except for 21573 and 24887. MCZ 24887 is marked as deaccessioned, so presumed to have left the MCZ. The subspecies of the unnumbered horns was determined to be falconeri based on their morphology using Castello's "Bovids of the World." Subspecies falconeri is the one that occurs in the Gilgit area in Kashmir (locality mentioned by name in the book). It was determined that these unnumbered horns therefore most likely correspond to MCZ 21573. MM, Mar 2020
