Remarks: From Thomas, 1993: "Like several other cucujid genera, Scalidia was described by Erichson (1846:305) without any included species, a situation that has led to subsequent confusion. Catogenus linearis LeConte has been considered the type species of Scalidia since Gourvelle (1878: 263) transferred it to Scalidia. However, Lacordaire (1854: 397) redescribed the genus and briefly described the species cylindricolls from Brazil, listed but not described by Dejean (1837:340) as Pasandra cylindricollis. In his world catalog Hetschko (1930:91-92) listed 16 species in Scalidia but included cylindricollis in Catogenus. According to Slipinski (1989:91) cylindricollis is a species of Catogenus, thus making Scalidia Erichson a junior synonym of Catogenus."
