Remarks: the specific epithet subulatus is not considered valid in newer taxonomy, and is thought to be an older name for Myotis yumanensis or Myotis leibii (and more recently, M. ciliolabrum and M. melanorhinus). Hall (1981) used subulatus for the species now recognized as leibii. MCZ taxonomy appears to take after Hall
