Barbour 1912, page 127, Holotype of Hyla monticola Barbour 1912 Barbour later discovered that the name 'monticola' was already in use to describe a subspecies of Costa Rican frog (Cope, 1875), therefore Barbour renamed the Chinese species Hyla bambusicola (nom. nov.), see Barbour, 1920
